SPAR Slovenia is actively expanding its initiatives across various areas. They recently opened a new store sub-licensed to an independent retailer located in Naklo, enhancing their retail presence. As part of its focus on sustainability and in partnership with the YouSea Institute, SPAR Slovenia conducted marine clean-ups. For shoppers, new features in their SPAR Plus mobile app have been introduced, enabling users to receive digital invoices. Additionally, the retailer introduced exclusive SPAR To Go dishes created by MasterChef winner Luka Pangos.

New SPAR supermarket opened in Naklo

On 8 May, SPAR Slovenia, in cooperation with Resman Plus d.o.o., opened a new independently run SPAR supermarket in Naklo, located in the northwest of the country. The supermarket has a retail sales area of 700m² and features a modern, customer-friendly design. It employs 12 staff members who ensure a high-quality shopping experience, and offers 20 parking spaces.

The supermarket provides a wide selection of food products from renowned brands and SPAR own brands. The focus is on fresh produce, including a colourful array of fruits and vegetables, a well-stocked butcher shop with local meats, and a delicatessen department with cheeses and meats. Customers can also enjoy freshly baked bread and pastries from a wood-fired oven, as well as various homemade confectionery.

SPAR Slovenia and YouSea collaborate in marine clean-ups

The You Sea Institute, supported by SPAR Slovenia, conducted four clean-up initiatives in the Slovenian sea to remove over 1,000kg of litter from seagrass meadows, crucial for biodiversity. The campaign also aims to raise awareness about the importance of these habitats, home to many marine organisms, and to contribute to the long-term conservation of the marine ecosystem.

Professional divers and volunteers carried out clean-ups in Piran, Izola, Koper, and Ankaran, using special equipment to carefully remove waste hidden among the seagrass leaves.

SPAR Slovenia and the YouSea Institute recognise that the biggest challenge is raising public awareness about preventing pollution of seagrass meadows in the long term.

Digital invoices in the SPAR Plus mobile app

In 2012, SPAR Slovenia launched its SPAR Plus mobile application. Today, the app has over 586,000 registered users. It offers many useful functions and benefits, including the SPAR Plus loyalty card in electronic form, e-coupons, e-leaflets, shopping slips, discount information, contact details, opening hours, live chats with customer service, and all the latest news.

In May, the app introduced new features enabling users to receive invoices in digital form, which they can activate within the app. These digital invoices can be shared as a PDF via SMS, email, or other digital channels, and the app stores them for up to 7 years. This makes it easier for customers to keep track of their purchases while also benefiting the environment. If all SPAR Plus users switched to digital invoices, they would save 679 km of paper or 2.5 tons of paper per month, and a total of 30 tons of paper per year.

MasterChef creates exclusive SPAR dishes

In cooperation with Luka Pangos, winner of the 10th season of the MasterChef cooking show, SPAR Slovenia has launched two new SPAR To Go dishes. The former winner exclusively created a bowl of Luke’s Super Breakfast and Luke’s Chicken Noodles, which perfectly integrate into the existing ‘Hitroteka’ offer of influencers. His dishes are based on fresh, high-quality ingredients, carefully selected for the perfect balance between taste and nutritional value.
